Description:
This project entails street rehabilitation and preventive maintenance on various streets throughout the City of Emeryville. The specific streets included in this project are:

• 43rd Street (San Pablo Avenue – Adeline Street)
• 45th Street (San Pablo Avenue – Adeline Street)
• 47th Street (San Pablo Avenue – Adeline Street)
• 48th Street (San Pablo Avenue – City Limits)
• Salem Street (43rd Street – 45th Street)
• Essex Street (43rd Street – 45th Street)
• Doyle Street (45th Street – Steve Dain Drive)
• Powell Street (Marina, Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood, and City of Emeryville Public Lots)
• Point Emery and West Frontage Road (Point Emery Parking Lot)
• Alameda County Fire Station No. 35 (Hollis Street and 63rd Street)
• 40th and Haven Street (City Hall Parking Lot)
• Shellmound Street (62nd Street – 65th Street)
• Hollis Street (40th Street – Powell Street)
• Transit Stop Lighting (Citywide Locations)
• Bike Racks (Citywide Locations)
• Other Bike/Ped/Transit Improvements per Active Transportation Plan (Citywide Locations)

This project generally includes, but is not limited to, the reconstruction and preservation of asphalt pavement; replacement of traffic striping and markings; installation of signs; reconstruction of PCC sidewalks, raised crosswalk/driveways, concrete medians, curbs, gutters, ADA curb ramps, solar transit stop lights, and bicycle racks.

In regards to asphalt pavement preservation and maintenance, the project requires the contractor to use crack seal, crack repair, micro-surfacing, asphalt rubber cape seal, and slurry seal where indicated. In regards to asphalt pavement removal and replacement, the project requires various methods including the contractor to provide a full dig out, replace the existing asphalt, overlay on top of existing asphalt, and construction of new pavement sections where indicated.

The work, to be completed within Sixty (60) working days, is more fully described in the Contract Documents, as defined in the Contract provided in Section 8, Part A, Bid Documents. The engineer’s estimate for this project is $3,800,000. Liquidated Damages in the Amount of $1,500 per calendar day will be assessed for failure to complete the contract work within the number of workdays specified.

Bidders and their proposed subcontractors shall hold such licenses as may be required by the laws of the State of California for the performance of the work specified in the Contract Documents. Bidders bidding as the prime Contractor shall possess a valid California State Contractor’s License, Classification A – General Engineering, C12 – Earthwork and Paving, or C32 – Parking and Highway Improvement at the time of contract award and throughout the Contract term. The Contractor will also be required to ensure that all subcontractors working on the project are holding valid licenses suitable for their trade.
